Medicare Outpatient Therapy
October 4th, 2021
This week, Chris Carey of Select Medical presents the outpatient rehabilitation therapy sector and the regulatory issues facing patients and providers.
Providers of outpatient rehabilitation therapy routinely help patients who are recovering from orthopedic, neurological and other illnesses and injuries to regain function, mobility and independence. The primary disciplines involved in the provision of outpatient therapy are physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists.
These professions are reimbursed for their services through the Medicare Part B physician fee schedule. These policies and rates are often relied upon by private payers as well. In this briefing, Chris reviews the basics of outpatient therapy reimbursement and pending policy issues. Chris can be reached at CCCarey@selectmedical.com
